Black Ice Father's Day

Linda Vich Creates: Black Ice Father's Day. The Black Ice Technique is combined with the Rooted in Nature bundle to create this Father's Day card.
I finally got to try the Black Ice technique! I enjoyed the process and the tutorial by Melissa Kerman.

I began by cutting a matte from Gold Foil paper and attached it to my work surface using temporary adhesive. I then lightly dragged my Stazon pad across the foil, leaving streaks.

Using my heat tool, I dried the ink and then used leaves from the Rooted in Nature bundle to stamp on the foil. Because the leaves were going to be in a random pattern, I used a stamp block but next time, I will probably use the Stamparatus because it is very easy for the stamp to "slip" on the slick surface.

After drying the ink again, this time I used my Versamark ink pad to drag very lightly across the matte, and then sprinkled it with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder. After heating it, the matte was simply beautiful, with lovely, shimmery streaks!

I matted this piece with Basic Black and added a Shimmery Black knotted ribbon. The matte was then adhered to a Tranquil Tide card front using Dimensionals.

Using a trick from Lisa Curcio, I used my Everyday Label Punch with strips of both Basic Black and Gold Foil to create a layered tag. I used stamps from the May 2018 Paper Pumpkin to stamp the sentiment with Stazon. The tag was assembled and added to the card front using Dimensionals.

I used the Framelits to cut out and then emboss two leaves on Tranquil Tide and stamped and die cut the leaf cluster. These were attached to the card front using Glue Dots and Dimensionals.

On a Very Vanilla matte, I stamped and stamped off to create a bottom border using Tranquil Tide.

I think my husband will enjoy this card!

Nature's Poem

Linda Vich Creates: Nature's Poem. The lovely Nature's Poem DSP combines with the Rooted in Nature stamp set to produce a lovely card, suitable for either a man or a woman.
This card literally took on a life of its own! I originally planned to work with Crumb Cake and Powder Pink but after receiving the lovely Nature's Poem DSP, I just had to use it! Blackberry Bliss was a no-brainer to use as an accompaniment!

If you are trying to decide which bundle to order first, you need only to look at pages 142-144 in the catalog at the gorgeous Nature's Poem Suite! At first glance, this Suite may seem a little dear, but its versatility far out-weighs the cost. This set is suitable for a number of occasions and recipients with just a simple change of the coordinating DSP or ink choice. Masculine cards, in particular, will be a breeze with this Suite!

I started by cutting a standard card base from Powder Pink and then cut a piece of the DSP to fit on the card front. I cut into the long side of the DSP about 2 inches and folded back the pieces after first adhering the left edge of the DSP to the card front.

The tree was stamped with Blackberry Bliss on Powder Pink and then die cut using the #4 oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The #7 scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals was used to matte the tree.

The little leaves were stamped with Powder Pink onto matching card stock and then die cut with the Nature's Roots Framelits. The new Big Shot Embossing Mats were used to emboss the leaves on Copper Foil and then they were also die cut. The tiny leaves were die cut from Blackberry Bliss using the Petals & More Thinlits.

After a basic arrangement was determined, the sentiment was stamped on the card front and then the DSP was secured to the front of the card and the flaps adhered with Dimensionals. The matted tree was adhered and then the leaves were adhered using Crystal Effects.

Finally, three of the Gold Faceted Gems were colored with the Bronze Blends to perfectly create copper gems (though these pictures do not show you how well they match the copper foil)!

Because the Powder Pink card base was very light, I decided to stamp directly on it with the tiny leaves from the stamp set, stamping first full strength, and then stamping off for the remaining leaves.

I still may use Crumb Cake with Powder Pink and the Rooted in Nature stamp set but for now, this design will have to do!

Rooted in Nature Birthday

Just can't stop playing with the new Rooted in Nature stamp set and my new favorite In Color, Blueberry Bushel! I am finding that you can get such depth from this color by stamping off up to four times!

I knew that I wanted to do a card with both Cajun Craze and Blueberry Bushel.

After cutting a 4.75 x 6" card base from Cajun Craze, I cut a matte from Blueberry Bushel and used the stamp with three leaves to create the background, stamping and stamping off several times until the paper was covered. I also sponged the edges. The matte was adhered to the card front with Dimensionals.

I cut a strip of Cajun Craze and embossed it using the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder and then sponged it lightly with both Cajun Craze and Early Espresso inks. The strip was adhered to the card front with Dimensionals.

On Thick Whisper White, I stamped three of the larger leaves, the tree slice (stamped off twice), and three of the leaf cluster (two full strength, one stamped off once) and die and fussy cut them out. The sentiment, from the Cake Soiree stamp set, was stamped twice onto the tree slice using Blueberry Bushel. The three large leaves were layered on the strip and then the tree slice was adhered over a piece of Copper Trim using Dimensionals. The leaf clusters were shaped a little and then glued around the tree slice.

For inside the card, the leaf cluster was stamped several times on a Whisper White matte and then the edges were inked to complete the card.

How do you feel about this color scheme? Let me know in the comments below!

Rooted in Nature for Mother's Day

Linda Vich Creates: Rooted in Nature for Mother's Day. Rooted in Nature stamps form the focal point of this fresh and spring-like card, with the Layered Leaves embossing folder helping out in the background..
Not everyone celebrates Mother's Day with the gusto with which a lot of us do. Knowing that my daughter would not be doing anything special that day, I made her a special card to let her know what a great job I think she is doing with her own daughter. In creating this card, I CASEd a card by Mary Deatherage.

I used a similar color scheme to Mary's in my card but mine used more color.

Starting with a standard card base cut from Crumb Cake, I added a Lemon Lime Twist matte that had been embossed using the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. The edges were sponged with Old Olive and a strip of the Share What You Love DSP adhered across it, wrapped with some Linen Thread. The matte was then adhered to the card front using Dimensionals.

The tree slice was stamped on Thick Very Vanilla using Crumb Cake and then it was fussy cut before heavily inking the edges with the ink. The pine tree stamp was inked using Stampin' Markers in Old Olive and Soft Suede and then stamped twice on Thick Very Vanilla. They were die cut with the matching dies.

The sentiment from the set was stamped on with Old Olive on a strip of Old Olive and then the Triple Banner Punch was used on it. The sentiment, tree slice, and trees were layered onto the card front using Dimensionals.

Inside the card, a tree was stamped and then the edges of the matte were sponged with both Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive.

I simply love how this card turned out! The Lemon Lime Twist gives such a spring-like freshness to everything and pairing the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder with the tree stamp, (even though the tree is coniferous and the leaves are deciduous) seems to really work well together.

I hope my daughter loves it as much as I do!
