On Thursday, I met with my second stamp group and we had a ball chatting about crafting and making two lovely projects.

A standard card base was cut from Real Red card stock. Two mattes were cut from Whisper White. One matte was embossed using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. The edges were inked with Pool Party using a sponge and then it was adhered to the card front.

The igloo was cut from Thick Whisper White using the Layering Ovals. A backing was cut from Pool Party. The white piece was embossed using the Brick Wall Embossing Folder and then the two pieces of the igloo were glued together with liquid adhesive.

The outside of the igloo was inked with Pool Party as well as the lines between the bricks. Liquid glue was applied to the edges, around the doorway, and random spots on the igloo itself and then Dazzling Diamonds Glitter was applied.

The Eskimo from the Cookie-Cutter Christmas stamp set was stamped on watercolor paper using Stazon ink. After setting the ink with a heat tool, the Eskimo was colored by using Stampin' Write Markers with a Blender Pen.

The igloo and Eskimo were adhered to the card front using Dimensionals. The sentiment, from the Santa's Sleigh stamp set, was stamped with Basic Black on a strip of Pool Party. One end was flagged with scissors and then the sentiment was adhered to the card front using Snail Adhesive.

The matte for the inside was stamped in Pool Party with a brick stamp from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set. The edges of the matte were inked with Pool Party and then the matte was adhered inside to complete the card.

Our second project was a little box that holds four tea light candles. The project was CASEd from Square Fish Designs and there is a template there that shows the scoring lines for the project.

A piece of the Floral Boutique DSP was cut 9.5 x 5.25" and scored and cut according to the template mentioned above. The Layering Squares were used to cut a hole in the lid portion of the box and a piece of Window Sheet was adhered inside the lid using Snail Adhesive.

A frame for the outside was cut with the Layering Squares from Thick Whisper White. It was adhered outside the window using liquid adhesive. Tip: Apply liquid adhesive to the frame and lay it, glue side up on the desktop. Hold the unassembled box with the wrong side facing you. Look through the window in the lid to line up the frame and press to adhere.

The box was completed using liquid adhesive and the candles placed inside. The Botanical Builder Framelits were used to cut the flower, stamens, and leaves. These were attached to the box lid using liquid glue and Dimensionals. A rhinestone was added to the centre of the flower.

A piece of the now retired Night of Navy Seam Binding was tied in a bow around the box to complete it.

Birthday In Blue With Thoughtful Branches

Linda Vich Creates: Birthday In Blue With Thoughtful Branches. Whisper White and Night of Navy combine in this card that showcases both the Floral Boutique DSP and the Thoughtful Branches Bundle.
My mother-in-law's birthday follows swift on the heels of that of my sister-in-law, so it was off to my craft room to create another card. I was drawn again to use the Thoughtful Branches bundle pairing it this time with the Floral Boutique DSP.

I started by cutting a 4.75 x 6" card base from Night of Navy. I cut a matte from a pin-striped paper from the Floral Boutique DSP and a smaller strip from a mostly navy design paper. These were adhered together using Fast Fuse.

Using the Beautiful Branches Thinlits, I die cut the tree from Night of Navy. I cut the bird from Thick Whisper White as well as a strip of paper which I ran through my paper crimper. It is hard to see in the pictures but it does add a nice bit of dimension to the card.

The tree was adhered to the matte using rolled up Glue Dots and then the crimped strip was adhered to the DSP matte and a length of Night of Navy Baker's Twine was tied around it. The matte was then adhered to the card front. I used a Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker to give the bird a tree and then it was adhered to the tree using Glue Dots.

The sentiment from the Bunches of Blossoms stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy on Thick Whisper White. The Layering Squares Framelits were used to die cut the sentiment and other mattes from both Thick Whisper White and Night of Navy card stock. Each square and scalloped square were adhered using liquid adhesive and then adhered together using Dimensionals. They were adhered to the card front using Fast Fuse.

For the inside of the card, a leaf was stamped on Whisper White card stock and then a leaf die cut from Night of Navy was adhered beside it using Glue Dots. A sponge dauber was used to ink the edges before adhering the matte using Fast Fuse.

Don't you just love the crisp quality of the card created by using white and navy together? I think that using the tree in navy really looks neat but I want to try a card that uses a white tree in the near future!

Be sure to place your order with me for the Thoughtful Branches Bundle! This limited edition bundle is available NOW until August 31 or while supplies last.

For further inspiration, check out my post from yesterday where I used the Thoughtful Branches Bundle on a pop-up card.
