Petal Promenade Wedding Wallet

Linda Vich Creates: Petal Promenade Wedding Wallet. Petal Promenade DSP takes centre stage on this gorgeous, belly band-encircled wedding wallet.
My project today gave me great pleasure to make.

Over the years I have watched my niece, Nicole, grow into a beautiful young woman and today she takes the next step in her life to marry the man of her dreams!

I knew that I wanted something very special for Nicole and Brad and along came Trayce Bauer with a stunning wedding wallet and video tutorial!

Though I had wanted to do something in Turquoise and/or Rose Gold (their wedding colors), I settled instead for using some of the gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP. If you haven't yet bought this, run to my online store now and pick some up! It is stunning paper and will be essential for all your summer projects and weddings!

I won't recreate Trayce's great tutorial here . . . better for you to watch her video. Suffice to say that I created the initial wallet piece using Thick Whisper White card stock and then added Petal Promenade mattes that were cut 1/8" smaller than the sections in which they were adhered.

Other card details:

  • For the flap of the wallet card, the corners were rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch. The DSP matte also had the corners rounded.
  • For the inside piece where the sentiment was stamped, a piece of Gold Foil, 1/8" smaller than the section to which it was adhered, was topped with another piece of Thick Whisper White, the corners which had been punched with the Detailed Trio Punch to let the Gold Foil show through.
  • The stamp set for both the sentiment on the belly band and inside the card were from the now retired Falling For You stamp set but there are many other current stamp sets you could use.
  • The belly band measured 2 x 11" and was cut from Blackberry Bliss. Using the Tufted Embossing Folder gave it a touch of elegance. The band was spritzed with water and then embossed at one end. The band was removed and the other end placed inside, carefully lining up with the previous embossed pattern, and then embossed again. It was folded around the completed wallet and adhered using Tear & Tape, leaving a little "give" to allow the belly band to be easily removed and replaced.
  • The front sentiment was stamped with Blackberry Bliss on Thick Whisper White and then die cut using the #3 circle in the Stitched Shapes Thinlits. The #7 scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Framelits was used to die cut a matte from Gold Foil. The two were adhered using liquid adhesive. (See my Numbered Dies Sets.)
  • Fast Fuse was applied to the back of the sentiment circle and then a nest of Rose Metallic Thread was adhered. Also adhered to the back were Mossy Meadow die cut leaves (Petals & More Thinlits) and Gold Glimmer leaves (Leaf Punch). The circle was then adhered over top of the belly band, at the front of the wallet, using Dimensionals.

Please don't think I'm cheap—I only had some $20 bills on hand to photograph this card! :)

The pictures of this card really don't do it justice! The DSP is just so rich and glamourous and the wallet is very sturdy and substantial. It will be a joy to present to Nicole and Brad!

Bittersweet Thank You

Linda Vich Creates: Bittersweet Thank You. Distressed wood background is topped with greenery and flowers using Petals & More, Sweet Cake Framelits, and punches.
Last Wednesday evening, I had the pleasure of attending an evening in the lounge at the Portage Avenue Marigold Restaurant in Winnipeg. It was great to see a lot of old friends but it was sad to think that in a few short days the Marigold Restaurant would close its doors forever. The Marigold had been a favorite watering hole for its faithful patrons including my husband, who had been a regular there for 37 years.

Wally Woo, who passed away on July 1, 2016, came to Canada from China at the age of 15 with only $8.00 in his pocket but went on to found the string of Marigold restaurants in Winnipeg, with  the Marigold on Portage Avenue remaining his favorite. He put in long hours each day at the restaurant up to shortly before his death at 82.

Another important person at the restaurant was the manager, Jean. She also put in long hours but always maintained a professional and pleasant demeanor, connecting with each patron and remembering birthdays and other special occasions. I made this card to thank her for her hard work at Marigold's.

The 5 x 7" card base was cut from Coastal Cabana and then two Coastal Cabana panels were cut for the front of the card and embossed using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. I referred to the excellent tutorial by Nicole Watt on Distressed Wood using Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake and Whisper White inks with sponge daubers to create the colorful wood.

The sentiment, from the now retired Lovely Amazing You stamp set, was stamped with Island Indigo on Coastal Cabana and then die cut using the #3 oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Island Indigo was sponged around the shape and then it was glued to a scalloped matte die cut from the Myths & Magic Glimmer paper using a scalloped die from the Layering Ovals Framelits. The completed sentiment was then glued to two Delicate White Doilies which had been sponged with Crumb Cake. These were attached to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

Both Linen Thread and Gold Metallic Thread were used to create swirls and attached to the card using Glue Dots. The "greenery" was die cut from Myths & Magic Glimmer paper using Petals & More Thinlits and leaves punched from Island Indigo and Soft Suede using the leaf punch. Little filler stems were die cut from Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana using the Sweet Cake Framelits. Leaves and stems were sponged with ink and then attached using liquid adhesive.

The flowers were punched using the retiring Pansy Punch and the retired Petite Petals Punch using Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay card stock. Flowers were stacked, pierced in the centre with a Piercing Tool and then fastened with a brad. Each flower was then sprayed with water and each individual layer scrunched up into a final bud shape. These were left to dry overnight and then carefully disassembled. Each petal was sponged with Crumb Cake and then liquid adhesive was used to assemble each flower. Crystal Effects was used to fasten each bloom to the card front.

Peace, Joy, and Love

Linda Vich Creates: Peace, Joy, and Love. A colorful and festive card that uses the Musical Instruments Framelits and the Sheet Music stamp set.
When I created the card in my Rustic Musical Season blog post, I had actually planned to create two cards that day, using some of the same stamps and framelits. However, time got away from me and I didn't get the second card finished until now!

I started by using my MISTI to stamp the Sheet Music background stamp with Whisper White onto Real Red card stock. I heat embossed it with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Cutting a slightly larger matte from Emerald Envy, I dry embossed it using the Holly Embossing Folder. These were stacked and adhered, haphazardly, onto a Real Red 4.75 x 6" card front.

I used the Musical Instruments Framelits to die cut the French horn from Silver Foil as well as a few more horns from Whisper White. I stacked and adhered the horns together. I used a silver Sharpie to edge the horn.

On Red Glimmer paper I used my #9 scalloped square and #6 plain square from the Layering Squares Framelits to die cut a frame. I adhered the frame at an angle on the card front using Mini Dimensionals. The horn was adhered on top of the frame, again using the Mini Dimensionals.

Using Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist card stock, I punched leaves and then sponged them with either Emerald Envy or Pear Pizzazz. I also shaped them a little with a bone folder. These were adhered around the horn using liquid adhesive.

The sentiment was stamped with Whisper White on Emerald Envy and then heat embossed using White Stampin' Emboss Powder. The Triple Banner Punch was used to flag the ends. A strip of Lemon Lime Twist was used to matte the sentiment and was hand trimmed after adhering it to the sentiment and then adhered to the card front with Dimensionals. A few rhinestones were added for a touch of bling.

On the Whisper White matte inside the card, the sentiment was stamped with Real Red and heat embossed using the now retired Real Red Glitter Embossing Powder. The leaves were stamped with Memento and then colored using the new Stampin' Blends. Wink of Stella added some glitz to the leaves and berries to complete the card.

Love how this card turned out! The colors of Real Red, Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist are such a fun combination! Be sure to save the color combo below if you'd like to use it for your own projects!

Thankful Painted Harvest

Linda Vich Creates: Thankful Painted Harvest. Bermuda Bay and Cajun Craze combine in this fall card using the Painted Harvest set.
Today's card was inspired by the color scheme in this card.

I chose a 5 x 7" format and cut a card base from Early Espresso and mattes from Cajun Craze, Bermuda Bay, and Thick Very Vanilla. I also cut smaller mattes after first die cutting the Thick Very Vanilla matte with the #4 stitched square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

On the die cut Vanilla piece I also stamped the sunflower from the Painted Harvest stamp set using Bermuda Bay, Cajun Craze and for the centre, Soft Suede. The three small mattes were then stacked and adhered using liquid adhesive. A length of the Copper Trim was tied in a bow around the stack.

Using the smaller layered stack as a guide, I then stamped four more flowers, peeking out from where the stack would be adhered on the large Very Vanilla matte. I then stamped the detailed leaves with Cajun Craze, stamping them second and third ties as I moved away from the stamped sunflowers. Additional leaves were stamped on Very Vanilla and punched using the coordinating punch.

The three large mattes were then stacked and adhered together and two pieces of Burlap Ribbon and a length of the Bermuda Bay 3/8" Stitched Ribbon were wrapped around the stack. The stack of mattes was then adhered to the card front using Dimensionals. The smaller stack of mattes was adhered on the top right of the card front, over the stamped sunflowers.

The sentiment was stamped with Cajun Craze on Bermuda Bay and then punched with the Pretty Label Punch. A second label was punched from Cajun Craze and trimmed to use as a matte for the sentiment. The sentiment was adhered to the card front using Dimensionals.

To complete the card front, the punched leaves were adhered both under the sentiment and the smaller stack of mattes. Three of the White Perfect Accents were colored with a Sharpie and adhered to the ribbon.

On another Thick Very Vanilla matte, a sunflower was stamped and then the edges were inked with both Bermuda Bay and Cajun Craze.

Painted Harvest Fancy Fold Flap Card

Linda Vich Creates: Painted Harvest Fancy Fold Flap Card. A delightful medley of Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party bring to life a Painted Harvest sunflower on this fancy flap card.
Today I used a Fancy Flap Card Fold for my card share which I CASEd from Debbie Henderson. This was a fun card fold to create and I got to use my new favorite stamp set–Painted Harvest! If you haven't yet purchased this set with the coordinating leaf punch (which you can get as a bundle at 10% off), you really should consider it! The color combos for the flower are endless and being able to punch out the leaves to go with it is really sweet!

To create this card, I cut a card base of 5.5 x 11" from Tranquil Tide. I scored on the long side at 4 and 8" to create a total of three panels–4 x 5.5" (front), 4 x 5.5" (middle) and 3 x 5.5" (end panel that folds inward).

Working with the front panel, I measured and marked 2.75" on the 5.5" side and 2" on the 4" side. I then used my Stampin' Trimmer to line up the marks to end up with a diagonal cut on each side of the front panel.

Next, I used the #8 circle in the Layering Circles Framelits to cut a hole in the middle of the front panel. I also used #4 circle in the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut a circle from Pool Party. Please check my Numbered Die Sets on my blog to see how I number my dies.

I used the smallest flower with Versamark to stamp over the front panel of the card, masking the back with Post-It notes. I then heat embossed the flowers with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder.

For the end panel of the card, I cut two pieces of striped paper from the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, 3 x 5.5" and used liquid adhesive to glue these to both sides of the panel.

I used my MISTI to stamp the sunflower on Whisper White card stock. I could have stamped the sunflower easily without the MISTI after learning how to line up and mark my stamps to get good alignment each time. However, I wanted to stamp each stamp two times so I used my MISTI to make it even simpler. I used Pool Party for the largest flower, Tranquil Tide for the smaller flower, and Pool Party (stamped just once) for the inside of the flower. I then used the Starburst Punch.

For the leaves, I stamped the leaves with Lemon Lime Twist 2X and the detailed stamp with Tranquil Tide just once and then punched them with the coordinating leaf punch.

The sunflower was adhered to the stitched Pool Party circle using Dimensionals. With the card closed, the stitched circle was adhered to the panel below it using Dimensionals. The leaves were adhered under the flower using liquid adhesive.

The sentiment from the Crazy About You stamp set was stamped with Tranquil Tide on Pool Party and then punched with the Classic Label Punch. It was adhered to the card front using Mini Dimensionals.

Inside the card, the detailed leaves were stamped with Tranquil Tide and the sentiment was stamped with Basic Black.

Finally, a bow made from the Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon was adhered to the centre of the sunflower using Glue Dots.
